The information in this Research section is intended to be used by people in the community and health professionals alike. Arthritis NSW believes in equal access by all, for any new research developments and projects relating to arthritis, osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal conditions. Some headings within this section may be applicable to health professionals more so than the general public, however we aim to include relevant studies and articles applicable to the NSW general community also.

Grants/Funding

Scholarships for doctors in rural  training

Will you be working in two or more rural terms this year?  Are you in a CETI network training program?

The Rural Scholarship Fund supports medical trainees committed to training and providing patient care in rural locations in NSW.

Prevocational, basic physician, paediatric physician, emergency medicine, pre-specialist surgical and psychiatry trainees can apply. 

Applications for the Rural Scholarship Fund open at the end of February and close on 15 April 2011. For more information visit the CETI website.

Branches Scholarship

Throughout the year, Arthritis NSW branches hold fundraising activities and raise money for The Branches Scholarship. The Scholarship is for the amount of $25,000 each year and is allocated to medical and science graduates to undertake studies and research into the causes and cures for arthritis. Bruce Williams Scholarship

The Bruce Williams Scholarship is intended to encourage projects in the areas related to arthritis and musculoskeletal research to the amount of $20,000. The scholarship is in acknowledgement of Bruce Williams, having rheumatoid arthritis himself, the co-founder of Arthritis NSW, known then as the Arthritis and Rheumatism Patient Aid Society in 1967.
