Through the generosity of donors to our Rural Health Appeal last November, Arthritis NSW was able to develop and deliver the Rural Health Initiative to five regional centres in 2018: Bathurst, Parkes, Henty, Macksville and Albury.
The program was developed to give people in rural communities access to information and education to help them better manage their condition, with the aim of Living Well with Arthritis.
Following the success of these events, our plan is to extend the initiative in 2019, to reach more NSW regional communities that have limited access to health education and services.
Last year we raised $20,000. This year our target is $40,000 – to deliver programs to eight new regional areas. Can you help us reach that target?
Here’s what participants had to say about this year’s events:
“It’s a great thing to bring to country areas, we really need to feel that we are getting the same benefits.”
“The seminar was life-changing, I’ve been given so much new knowledge”
“I learnt that pain can sometimes be more mental than physical and my arthritis is not damaged by exercise.”
“I am a registered nurse, I have had OA for 2 ½ years and it is good to see that you are not alone. I am now looking to start a support group with like-minded people.”
“It was very informative, I would recommend the seminar to everyone.”
As a non-government funded charity, we rely on the donations from our wonderful community to keep delivering these meaningful programs to the greatest number of people possible.
We thank you for your generosity!
