Camp Footloose is an annual event which provides a valuable opportunity for children and young people with arthritis (aged 9 to 18 years) to have fun, meet others like them and share experiences in a supportive environment. It also helps them gain a sense of control over arthritis and their lives. Dedicated team leaders and staff, including health professionals, attend camp and guide participants through a range of exciting activities and fun education.

About the most recent Camp Footloose: 25 to 29 September 2017
The 2017 camp was held at the Berry Sport & Recreation Centre, in Berry NSW. The program kicked off at 3pm on Monday 25 September and ran through to midday on Friday 29 September. The children who attended this year – representing a mix of returning campers from previous years as well as first-time campers – enjoyed a program which included:
- An education session delivered by Anne Senner, Paediatric Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Consultant
- An educational workshop lead by Occupational Therapist, Mandy Hanna
- Volunteer-lead activities, a favourite being the Trivia Night
- A wide range of Sport and Rec activities including:
> Cable Glide / Flying Fox
> Low Ropes
> Raft building
> Vertical challenges
> Giant Swing
> Kayaking and canoeing
The 2017 camp was supported by Nuance | Dragon as Silver Sponsors, whose generous contribution covered the cost of us having nursing staff at camp 24/7 to assist as needed.

Juvenile arthritis now affects one in every 800 Australian children but only 20 young people were able to attend this year’s Camp Footloose. We would love to accommodate more campers each year, and even start regional camps and weekend retreats for young adults affected by arthritis. Funding is the highest barrier, but you can help by making a donation today.
